- An all-European affair from South Africa 2010 is next for #WorldCupAtHome
- Germany’s expansive attack unlocked the Three Lions defence four times
- England nearly recouped a first-half deficit before succumbing to defeat
The #WorldCupAtHome forges ahead on Sunday with a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ match-up featuring two of Europe’s perennial powers.
A frenetic first half in Bloemfontein saw Germany gracefully establish a two-goal lead, then nearly relinquish it before the intermission. If Frank Lampard were awarded a goal for his half-volley that pinged the crossbar and appeared to cross the goalline before ricocheting out, the Three Lions would have knotted the score at 2-2 in the 39th minute. A Thomas Muller brace reestablished control for the Germans.
