Wolves are close to appointing Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor after a Football Association breakthrough.
The West Midlands side made moves to bring in Portuguese manager Bruno Lage, but he failed to pass post-Brexit regulations.
Wolves put their case forward for bringing in Lage at a hearing on Wednesday and have now been cleared to make the appointment, according to the BBC.

45-year-old Lage is their first choice to take over. He was originally linked with the role in April when speculation mounted about Nuno’s future.
Lage has never managed in England before, although he has worked with Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City in the past.
He was in charge of Portuguese side Benfica between January 2019 and June 2020.
One of the main reasons for his consideration is agent Jorge Mendes, who has a good relationship with Wolves officials.
Lage looks set to be one of numerous managerial changes in the Premier League this summer.
Nuno is close to taking over at Everton, with the Merseyside club aiming to enter negotiations in the coming days.
The club’s board were impressed by his achievements at Molineux, where he managed back-to-back seventh-place finishes.
They also reached the Europa League quarter-finals last year, before being beaten by eventual winners Sevilla.
Spurs are in a similar situation to Everton, having sacked Jose Mourinho in April.
His replacement is yet to be found as Ryan Mason took temporary charge for the final few weeks of the campaign.
Nuno has been ruled out as a contender at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Antonio Conte now the favourite.
The Italian is coming off the back of a title win with Inter and might end Spurs’ long wait for a trophy.
Crystal Palace are another top flight side hoping to make changes in the coming weeks. Roy Hodgson has retired after a successful spell at Selhurst Park. Frank Lampard and Eddie Howe have been linked with the vacant hot seat.
The Eagles will additionally have to deal with plenty of out-of-contract stars. James McCarthy and Christian Benteke can leave for free at the end of June.
