West Ham, Spurs interested in Sampdoria winger Damsgaard

The youngster is currently enjoying a breakthrough campaign in Italy.

He’s made 21 appearances in Serie A, sparking interest from across Europe.

According to sources in Italy (via Daily Mail), Damsgaard’s progress is being monitored by the Hammers and Spurs.

The report states that West Ham are at the front of the queue to secure his services.

They’re hoping to launch a bid this summer to sign the Denmark international.

Spurs could rival the Hammers by launching a counter offer, although they’re also considering other targets.

Southampton and Leeds were linked with Damsgaard during the January transfer window.

No official bid was submitted from the Premier League teams, however.

As expected, Juventus are interested in the winger after seeing his impressive displays in Italy.

They could swoop in to sign Damsgaard using their huge financial power.

The player only joined Sampdoria from Danish side Nordsjaelland last year, but he is already an important first team member.

He’s scored two goals and assisted a further four so far this season.

Damsgaard is contracted with the Italian side until June 2024. That means it will take a substantial offer to prize the 20-year-old to the Premier League.

It’s thought that he would form effective partnerships with Said Benrahma and Tomas Soucek going forward.

The Hammers are also benefiting from the loan signing of Jesse Lingard. The Englishman scored two goals on his debut during a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.

West Ham might be tempted to sign him permanently, should his impact on the team continue.

The Hammers’ next match is against Sheff Utd this evening in the Premier League.
