Spurs are looking to sign a Serie A defender, while Liverpool ‘seduce’ a world superstar…
TOTTENHAM PLANNING SKRINIAR SWOOP
Tottenham are looking to sign Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar after missing out on him in January, according to reports.
The Slovakia international has played for Inter since 2017 when he joined from Sampdoria in a deal worth around €20m. Since then he has made 158 appearances for the Nerazzurri and scored seven goals in all competitions. He has been key to Inter’s success this season as they sit six points clear at the top of Serie A from arch-rivals AC Milan.
Skriniar’s form continues to attract interest from Tottenham, who were linked with a move for him last summer and in the latest January transfer window. And Football Insider claims that Spurs ‘held extensive talks with the Serie A giants about recruiting the centre-back’ in January with a £25m deal coming ‘very close’ to being agreed. However, Inter ‘pulled the plug on discussions as Skriniar had recovered his best form’.
Spurs are ‘planning to open talks’ again in the summer with Jose Mourinho understood to be a huge fan of the defender. There are rumours that Inter could now demand a fee in excess of £60m but Football Insider says those claims ate ‘wide of the mark’. The situation with Inter’s finances will ‘open the door for Tottenham to make another move’.
LIVERPOOL CONTINUE CHARM OFFENSIVE
Paris Saint-Germain are growing ‘impatient’ with Kylian Mbappe as Liverpool maintain their interest in the forward, according to reports in France.
The France international has been amazing form once again this season with 30 goals in 36 matches in all competitions with PSG top of Ligue 1 and into the Champions League quarter-finals. However, PSG risk losing their most valuable asset for nothing in the summer of 2022 unless he renews his contract.
Le Parisien (via Sport Witness) call it a ‘complicated situation to manage’ for PSG and the French club are growing ‘impatient’ over his contract situation. PSG have had to reduce their valuation of Mbappe to between €120m and €150m from €200m and they will not stand in his way if he decides he wants to leave the club.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are the two clubs who are consistently linked with Mbappe and Le Parisien report that the Reds have a ‘desire’ to sign the 22-year-old and they ‘continue to seduce’ him. Mbappe ‘takes his time to decide’ his future at PSG but all of his suitors are said to be ‘ready to break the bank’ for him if the opportunity presents itself.
