UNITED TO USE LINGARD AS MAKEWEIGHT FOR RICE
The whispers on Thursday suggested there was the will from all sides to make Jesse Lingard a West Ham player on a permanent basis. The Hammers are said to be willing to do ‘whatever it takes’ to sign the England star this summer, with £30million reported to be Manchester United’s asking price.
Today it seems United are pushing their luck. According to The Athletic, the Red Devils expect Declan Rice to be part of any deal for Lingard.
West Ham have said they would be prepared to listen to offers for the midfielder, but it would take ‘Bank of England money’ for them to sell. David Moyes reckons the Hammers would be due around £100million for Rice.
United feel Lingard would be a useful makeweight, while the Hammers’ desire to sign the 28-year-old should make them more willing to negotiate. Which may be true, but probably not to the extent that Ed Woodward expects.

The Denmark defender has impressed at Fulham during his loan spell from Lyon this season. The French side are open to a deal if anyone brings £25million to the table, and though the Cottagers are keen on a permanent move, they don’t currently retain any option to purchase.
Which, according to The Telegraph, gives Man United, Tottenham and Leicester the chance to swoop, even if Fulham stay up.
