Gossip: Pogba’s Man Utd demands; Madrid return for Sterling

Madrid are back in for Sterling and Raiola thinks Pogba deserves a lot more money after playing a few games of football…

£80M STERLING
Raheem Sterling is very much part of the rotation at Manchester City right now. He started the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea but played just two minutes across the two Champions League legs against Borussia Dortmund.

And when a player of such undeniable quality spends significant time on the sideline, the transer rumours are never far away. The Daily Star claims Sterling’s struggles have re-piqued the interest of Real Madrid.

The La Liga giants have long courted the England international but appeared to have given up hope of luring him to the Bernabeu with him a vital cog in Pep Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad.

But the recent lack of game time, along with new contract talks being shelved for the season, have seen Sterling’s return to the Madrid radar.

The 26-year-old has scored 14 goals for City this season but just once in his last 12 appearances in all competitions.

With two years left on his current deal, City are in a strong position and would want a bid of at least £80million to consider selling one of their star assets – signed for £44m from Liverpool in June 2015.

POGBA PUSHING
Paul Pogba has played a few games of football recently, performing pretty well in the process. He – and agent Mino Raiola – therefore want his new contract to promise wages of £500,000-a-week.

The Frenchman – currently on £290,000-a-week – now appears settled at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but his contract is up in the summer of 2022, with talks over of an extension on the horizon.

And United now know the massive salary it will take to keep hold of the star midfielder.

Should United decide not to offer Pogba the improved terms, which would take his overall earnings close to £800,000-a-week according to the Daily Star, they will face losing him for free at the end of next season and would perhaps rather sell him this summer to recoup some of the £90million they paid Juventus for his services in 2016.

Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have also been informed by Raiola of the cost of them securing his client’s signature, just in case.
