Gossip: Haaland to Spain; Sterling to leave Man City

Erling Haaland could join Real Madrid or Barcelona, while Man City want to raise money by selling Sterling…

HAALAND, REAL MADRID AND BARCELONA
It looks increasingly likely that Erling Haaland will end up in Spain, what with Manchester City unlikely to spend that kind of money, Chelsea accepting that they are not in that market and targeting Romelu Lukaku instead, and Manchester United being Manchester United.

The talk from Barcelona (via Eurosport) is that Lionel Messi has been told that the club can only sign Haaland – and of course they want to sign Haaland – if he takes a pay cut. They claim ‘the club are confident that they can get a deal done for Haaland, though; particularly given the warm relationship Laporta has with his agent Mino Raiola’.

But speaking of Raiola…he has been telling AS that Real Madrid can afford Haaland, regardless of all Florentino Perez’s self-pitying nonsense about the collapse of the Super League meaning that no real money will be spent this summer.

“Real Madrid can afford Erling Haaland. They have money to sign him,” said Raiola.

STERLING OUT?
Well, well. This is quite the claim from Football Insider, who say that Manchester City are willing to sell Raheem Sterling this summer as they look to overhaul their attack. Sterling has played only two minutes in City’s last three Champions League games, though he did start the Carabao Cup final last week.

The report claims that City would want around £80m for Sterling, who has two years left on his contract. The money would apparently be used to fund moves for Haaland and Jack Grealish, who is apparently seen as a more ‘pure footballer’ than Sterling.

ABRAHAM HAS THREE SUITORS
Another England man with two years left on his contract is Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, and the latest claim from ESPN is that Chelsea are willing to sell and would be looking for £40m, though ‘there is confidence among the interested parties that a deal could be done for less’.

The interested clubs? West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United. The Hammers seem the obvious option if they secure European football for next season – they certainly need a striker – but he has already enjoyed a successful loan spell at Villa and Newcastle are always a draw because of the fans.
