BARCA EYE AGUERO FREEBIE
Joan Laporta’s first big job after returning to the Barcelona presidency is to convince Lionel Messi to stay at the Nou Camp. Part of his charm offensive appears to involve Sergio Aguero…
The Manchester City striker is out of contract this month and having fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad, Aguero is set to seek a new challenge in the summer. Unsurprisingly, a queue is forming for the Argentina hitman.
According to TyC Sports, Barca are jostling for position at the front of the line because Laporta reckons that signing the 32-year-old may persuade his mate Messi to stick around.
Aguero is reportedly interested in what Barca have to say – but Mundo Deportivo says City’s greatest ever goalscorer is asking for a sweetener from the cash-strapped Catalans since he wouldn’t cost any transfer fee.

CHELSEA TO CUT LOSSES ON WERNER
Timo Werner has four more years remaining on his contract but, apparently, few at Chelsea reckon the forward will stay for the duration.
Indeed, Football Insider claims to have been told that Werner could even be on the move this summer, with Chelsea set to cut their losses on the struggling striker.
Their story goes that the expectation at Chelsea is that Werner will return to Germany “in the next year or two”.

BIELSA TARGETS BREST MAN
Chelsea go to Leeds this weekend, with the Whites also in featuring prominently in the morning’s whispers.
L’Equipe reckons Marcelo Bielsa has made Brest midfielder Romain Faivre a top target for his summer strengthening.
The 22-year-old has five goals and three assists to his name this season after moving from Monaco last year.
Brest are already on the record as saying Faivre won’t be sold for anything less than the £13million they made on Ibrahima Diallo when the midfielder joined Southampton in October.
Leeds aren’t the only club seeking Faivre. Calciomercato claimed yesterday that Roma, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen were also keen.

REDS READY FOR SWOOP ON SANTOS
Liverpool rediscovered some goalscoring form last night but the Reds are making plans for the future of their forward line.
Sport Witness reports that Angelo Gabriel could feature among them. Liverpool are said to be in contact with Santos over their teenage forward, who made his first-team debut last autumn aged just 15.
Gabriel, now 16, is being likened to Rodrygo, who the Reds were monitoring before Real Madrid moved for the winger in 2019.
Gabriel would not come cheap – his release clause is worth around £51million.
MAN UTD STAR EYES RETURN TO FORMER CLUB
Edinson Cavani is not the only Manchester United star planning his next move. Nemanja Matic is also thinking about life after leaving Old Trafford…
The Serbia midfielder has told Sport TV that he fancies a return to Benfica, where he honed his craft from 2011 to 2014, between spells at Chelsea.
While Cavani appears set to leave United this summer, Matic is thinking longer term. His contract with the Red Devils still has two years left to run.
