Tottenham set to hold talks with Fulham loanee Andersen

Tottenham will begin transfer talks with Fulham loanee Joachim Andersen next week, according to reports.

The Danish centre-back has had an impressive season in the Premier League, despite Fulham’s relegation battle.

Last week, it was revealed that Tottenham, Manchester United and Leicester were all weighing up a potential bid.

Spurs now look set to act on their interest. According to Danish source BT Sports’ Transfer Window (via Daily Mail), the north London side will hold talks with Andersen’s agent next week.

Cub scouts have been dazzled by his dominant displays in the Cottagers’ defence. He’s made 26 appearances for Scott Parker’s men since joining on loan from Lyon in October.

Spurs are hoping Andersen is the man to solve their defensive woes.

Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon have all looked shaky at the back this term.

Their most recent defensive capitulation was in the 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United.

Spurs took the lead through Heung-Min Son in the 40th-minute but conceded three in the second half.

Goals from Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood sealed the United victory.

As a result, Mourinho is on the lookout for defensive solutions.

Andersen is one ideal option as he already looks comfortable competing in the top flight.

Spurs have a good chance of signing the 24-year-old, too.

Lyon are open to selling the defender as they look to raise funds for the upcoming summer transfer window.

It’s thought that a bid of around £25million would secure his services.

Lyon sporting director Juninho recently sparked rumours of a permanent Premier League move for the player.

When asked about Andersen’s future, the former Brazil international said: “I think he will want to extend his adventure in the Premier League.

“He has played well at Fulham, and if he wants to come back, we will welcome him with open arms.”

Fulham have been linked with a move for Andersen in the summer, but it’s not yet clear whether they would have the funds to buy him.

Spurs could also blow Fulham out of the water with a major bid if a transfer race begins.

Andersen isn’t the only defender Spurs will target in the coming months.

Bayern star Jerome Boateng is out of contract in June and could join Mourinho’s side on a free transfer.
