Tottenham are considering Ajax boss Erik ten Hag as a possible successor for Jose Mourinho, according to reports.
Ajax won the Eredivisie title in Ten Hag’s first full season in charge before they were denied the title last term with the campaign voided due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Only a crazy turn of events can ruin their chances of winning the league again this season with Ten Hag’s men – who have a far superior goal difference – currently 12 points ahead of second-placed PSV with only four matches still to play.

Ten Hag also led Ajax to their first Champions League semi-final since 1997 in 2019, with Spurs knocking them out before Mauricio Pochettino’s men lost to Liverpool in the final.
Tottenham are currently without a permanent manager having sacked Jose Mourinho ten days ago and put Ryan Mason in temporary charge until the end of the season.
That has led to Spurs being linked with numerous managers, including Brendan Rodgers, Nuno Espirito Santo and new Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.
And now respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that ‘Tottenham have scheduled a direct meeting’ with Ten Hag with the Ajax boss ‘among the candidates to become the new Spurs manager’.
He adds on Twitter that Ten Hag is ‘open to leave Ajax in the summer’ but that ‘nothing [is] decided yet’.

Meanwhile, former Premier League striker Noel Whelan has talked up the Ajax man with Ten Hag playing “beautiful football” at the Dutch club.
“He’s up there as an option, definitely,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“You’re going to have your favourites and then you’re going to have other managers if you can’t get that number one or number two.
“I don’t think there’s any harm in going for a younger manager. I don’t think there’s a risk. What’s riskier, getting a manager that’s been sacked 10 times or a manager that’s not been sacked at all?
“There is an element of risk in whatever manager you opt for. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But if you come from Ajax, you play the game the right way. They play beautiful football and produce some brilliant players.”
