Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira are teaming up with Spotify founder Daniel Ek to launch a takeover bid for Arsenal, according to reports.
The relationship between fans and owner Stan Kroenke, which has been tumultuous in recent years, was worsened further still when the Gunners announced on Sunday they had signed up as one of the founding members of a breakaway European Super League.
The ill-will towards the new competition was so fierce that, just two days later, Arsenal – as well as fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham – all withdrew from the plans.

But the original decision only exacerbated the call from supporters for Kroenke to sell, and they amassed outside the Emirates to call for change ahead of their fixture against Everton last Friday.
An effigy of Kroenke hung from a lamp post as supporters let off flares and held up anti-Kroenke banners, chanting for his removal and also singing songs which would usually be heard in the stands.
In reaction to the protests, Swedish billionaire Ek had set the rumour machine going when he tweeted: “As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”

And now Matt Law in the Daily Telegraph claims that Ek ‘has teamed up’ with Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira ‘as he prepares to test Stan Kroenke’s resolve by making a takeover offer for Arsenal.’
If ‘successful, then it is understood Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira could all return to Arsenal to be part of the new set-up’. In news that is bound to excite every Arsenal fan around the world.
Despite Josh Kroenke’s statement last week that Arsenal isn’t for sale it is understood that ‘the involvement of Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira will put pressure on him to listen to any offer from Ek’.
On the fall-out at Arsenal, club legend Henry recently said: “This club belongs to the fans, I love the club and I will support the club until I die, but I do not recognise my club and what happened just now, with them trying to join a league that would have been closed, makes no sense to me.
“They have been running the club like a company, not a football club, and they showed their hand. Maybe it’s a lack of understanding of the core football values and maybe the money was too big of a temptation. But whatever it was, they got it wrong. Badly wrong.”
