Tammy Abraham ‘not interested’ in signing new Chelsea deal

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is ‘not interested’ in signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge while the club pursue a deal for Erling Haaland, according to reports.

The Englishman did well under Frank Lampard last season as he hit 15 Premier League goals for the Blues as they finished in the top four.

However, Abraham has only started 12 Premier League matches this term and is already in and out the side under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

OPINION: Chelsea: Ingenuity by Giroud, structure by Tuchel

With Timo Werner misfiring this season, Chelsea have been linked with a summer move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Erling Haaland.

And now sources have told The Athletic that Abraham ‘is not interested in discussing an extension to his contract while the club cast admiring glances at Haaland’.

The England international only has two years remaining on his contract after this season and the report adds that ‘this summer would generate the biggest fee’ if Chelsea were planning ‘to cash in on the 23-year-old to avoid the risk of him running his deal down’.

Abraham has been substituted twice at half-time by new boss Tuchel and The Athletic reckons the German ‘must have doubts’ over the Blues’ leading goalscorer.

They continue by saying ‘it shouldn’t be assumed that Abraham will want to stay at Chelsea’ and that ‘it would be prudent to convince’ Olivier Giroud – who scored a spectacular winner against Atletico Madrid last night – to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Athletic says Giroud ‘hasn’t ruled out extending his stay at the west London club for another year, even though clubs elsewhere are (understandably) showing an interest’.
