Gareth Bale’s application at Tottenham has been questioned, while the Spurs players are increasingly frustrated at Jose Mourinho’s tactics, according to a report.
A dismal 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night saw Spurs lose three successive league games for the first time since 2012 as their campaign is imploding having been top of the table in mid-December.
Five defeats from nine games has ended any hopes of a title challenge and is making a top-four finish look difficult, but Mourinho has guided Spurs to the final of the Carabao Cup and they are still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

There is some unrest within the supporters at results and Mourinho’s pragmatic style of play, and now the Daily Mail claims that ‘there is an unease within the Tottenham squad about the current style of play amid concerns the conservative tactics are impeding the team’s attacking players’.
Gareth Bale is one Tottenham player who has been out of form this season, with the Wales international failing to make an impact since his high-profile loan move from Real Madrid.
Bale has only made two Premier League starts for Spurs this term and now the Daily Mail adds that his ‘application is being questioned by Tottenham’.
It is understood that ‘there was particular disappointment at Bale’s work-rate’ against Brighton as he was awarded a rare start in the Premier League.
The report claims that ‘even Brighton’s players were said to be surprised at the apparent lack of industry shown by Bale’.
Mourinho snapped at a reporter when questioned about Bale after their 1-0 loss to Chelsea, with the Welshman failing to make it off the bench.
Asked by a TV reporter why he did not come on, Mourinho replied: “Good question. You do not deserve to know the answer.”
