Spurs will turn their attention to RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann with their ‘dream solution’ to replace Jose Mourinho unavailable, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk.
Their 2-2 draw against Everton on Friday night will have done little encourage the Tottenham hierarchy that the Portuguese coach will turn around their fortunes this season.
The point at Goodison Park means Spurs are now five points adrift of fourth-placed West Ham – who occupy the final Champions League spot in the Premier League – but have now played one more match than their rivals.

Mourinho does have the Carabao Cup final to look forward to as he aims to end Tottenham’s 13-year wait for a trophy – but even that might not be enough to save his job.
A report at the end of last month claimed that chairman Daniel Levy is keen to give Mourinho ‘another year’ at Spurs ‘regardless’ of how he performs this season.
But other outlets have linked Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo with the position as well as former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
And reports in Germany back in February insisted that Nagelsmann would be interested in the Tottenham job if it came along with Falk now ruling Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers out of the frame.
“It’s clear his (Mourinho’s) hours are counting down,” Falk told BILD (via Sport Witness).
“It is no secret that Brendan Rodgers was actually the dream solution, but he has a contract with Leicester until 2025, so he is not available.
“Therefore, they (Tottenham) sound out the market and Julian Nagelsmann is a name that comes up again and again.
“I heard in Leipzig that if Bayern call, they won’t give him away because they don’t want to let him leave for their direct rivals in Germany, but if they call from England, I heard they might be willing to talk.
“If they pay a transfer fee and Tottenham have the money, it’s possible.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp recently commented that Levy would be particuarly frustrated by a host of “devaluing assets” at the club.
“For them to be in a position they are right now, it’s not just the financial implications for the club with the stadium, and the assets like Dele Alli and Harry Winks.
“Having spent a bit of time at Spurs I know Daniel Levy will not like the fact that a lot of the players he’s got are devaluing assets, he hates that.
“He wants to keep players’ assets so when it comes to selling they’re worth more than what you bought them for. When you just cast them aside like he does I don’t think it helps one bit.”
