Graeme Souness says “someone could have been killed” after Manchester United fans threw projectiles – including a flare – in the direction of the Sky Sports pundits on Sunday.
Hundreds of United supporters stormed the Old Trafford pitch ahead of their proposed Premier League game against Liverpool in protest at the Glazers, causing the match to be postponed.

Although most of the protesting appeared good natured, a video posted on Twitter showed a red flare being thrown towards the Sky Sports studio.
Souness was furious, insisting “someone could have been killed” by the flare, or a bottle which was also thrown at the pundits but also fell short of them in the Sir Bobby Charlton stand.
He said: “Let’s be honest, someone threw a flare up to this stage today. If it hit one of us, we would be in the hospital and scarred.
“Someone threw a bottle of beer up here. If that hits you the wrong place, you could have been killed!’
“So, let’s not mess about and be tippy-tappy around the situation. That is unacceptable. And something’s happened out there for this game to be postponed.
“A kid was killed in Cardiff by a flare. I am not criticising Man United supporters en masse, but you cannot underplay that.
“That (flare) could have marked someone for life. We’re sitting here saying it’s right they’re demonstrating but a village idiot could have killed someone here today.”
The game was postponed following dicussions between the police, Trafford council, the clubs and the Premier League.
One police officer is said to have been slashed across the face during the protest, while there is also said to have been clashes between fans and police outside the stadium.
Gary Neville has called on the Glazer family to do “the honourable thing” and sell Manchester United.
“The Glazer family have been resilient and stubborn for many, many years,” Neville told Sky Sports. “I think that they are struggling to meet the financial demands that this club needs and have done for some time.
“If you think about the club that they picked up in 2004, it had the best stadium in the country, probably the best in Europe. It had the best training ground in the country, probably the best in Europe. It had a team that was getting to Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals regularly and winning the league every season, every other season.
“You look at the club now, this stadium – I know it looks great here but if you actually go behind the scenes it’s rusty and rotting. If you look at the training ground it’s probably not now one of the top five in this country.
“They haven’t got to a Champions League semi-final for 10 years. We haven’t won a league here at Manchester United for eight years.
“The land around the ground is undeveloped, dormant and derelict while every other club seems to be developing the fan experience and the facilities.
“The Glazer family are struggling to meet the financial requirements and the fans are saying it’s enough.
“My view on it is quite simply they are going to make a fortune if they sell this football club. If they put it up for sale now, the time would be right and it’d be the honourable thing to do.”
