Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reserved special praise for Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw after Manchester United’s derby victory over Man City.
Man United made a dream start at the Etihad. In the opening minute, Anthony Martial advanced into the penalty area only to be brought down by Gabriel Jesus.
Ederon got a hand on Bruno Fernandes’ penalty but he could not quite keep it out as the ball nestled in the bottom corner.

Man City finished the half well, but it remained 1-0 until United doubled their advantage in the 50th-minute.
The attack was started by Luke Shaw as he advanced upfield. He offloaded it to Marcus Rashford before the forward let him in inside the area. The left-back steadied himself before finding the bottom corner past a static Ederson in goal.
Pep Guardiola’s side missed chances to get back into the game but it finished 2-0 to the visitors. This win ends a run of three straight 0-0 draws for the Red Devils. They are now second in the table and they are eleven points behind City.
Solskjaer told BBC Sport that Martial was his man of the match at the Etihad:
“Delighted. I’d say you get the first goal, we were on the front foot for 10-15 minutes but then the last half hour of the first half I felt we played too much on the result. Sometimes when you defend against strong teams inevitably they create chances. We had to get to half time to get hold of everyone again.
“The second goal was magnificent. Luke [Shaw] just showed what he is about. He was a massive doubt this morning and had to go through a fitness test to play. What a performance.
“I thought we defended really well, we were more like ourselves with the ball attacking wise.
“Anthony Martial was man of the match and he was an even bigger doubt than Luke. That was the Anthony we know, strong positive and taking players on. Delighted for him.
“They [Manchester City] are so far ahead you can’t really think about anything but making sure we win our games and be better than last year. We were third so we want to move up the table of course.”
