Sissoko: Spurs must follow ‘Mourinho’s plan’ to win trophies

Moussa Sissoko has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur must “follow” Jose Mourinho’s tactics to capitalise this season and win some silverware.

Spurs have had a mixed season so far. They recently lost three Premier League games in a row, which included defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mourinho’s side recovered from this by beating West Brom 2-0 last Sunday. They currently sit eighth in the top flight with a game in hand over most teams above them.

But Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup on Wednesday night as they fell to a 5-4 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

The Londoners are still fighting for a trophy in the Europa League and Carabao Cup, though. They finished top of their Europa League group to go through to the knockout stages.

Spurs have also advanced to the Carabao Cup final and they will face Manchester City at Wembley on April 25.

Speaking with talkSPORT, Sissoko insisted that Mourinho is a manager who “knows how to win trophies”:

“Everyone knows he’s a great manager. He won many things at different clubs, that’s why the chairman decided to bring him here.

“Tottenham have wanted to win something for many years. We were always close to winning.

“Maybe this year we have a good opportunity to do it. The manager knows how to win trophies, we are already in a final of one cup and we’re still in the race for the Europa League.

“So let’s follow his plan, let’s give our best on the pitch. If we can reach the final of the Europa League and try to win those two competitions, it will be great.

“He knows how to do it, so we have to trust him and follow his tactics.”
