‘Sense at Spurs’ that they will sell £150m Kane in 2022

There is a growing feeling at Spurs that they will sell Harry Kane in 2022 as speculation mounts over his future, according to reports.

Kane has been Tottenham’s top attacking threat for several years now with 215 goals in 327 appearances since breaking into the first-team in north London.

The England international has helped Spurs to the final of the Champions League and the final of the League Cup on two occasions, with Jose Mourinho’s side facing Manchester City in the League Cup showpiece on April 25.

That will give Kane hope that he can win his first piece of silverware with Tottenham’s last trophy coming back in 2008 when Juande Ramos guided them to League Cup glory.

Many have pontificated that Kane will have to leave north London to finally decorate his playing career with a trophy with the likes of Manchester United being linked with a move for the 27-year-old.

In fact, the Daily Mail list ‘Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United’ as teams who have ‘firm interest’ in Kane.

It is also claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy ‘will refuse to entertain interest from domestic rivals — a stance that halves Kane’s options at a stroke.’

The Daily Mail adds: ‘Even then the club are so reluctant for him to leave that they are expected to set an asking price of £150million — a fee Real, Juve and PSG would baulk at, given the financial implications caused by Covid.’

However, ‘there is a sense at Spurs that the summer of 2022, when he enters the final two years of his contract, might be the time they finally bid farewell’.

When asked before England’s recent World Cup qualifier with Albania whether speculation over his future would impact his displays for his country, Kane replied: “I think that’s a hard question to answer right now.

“It’s important that all my focus is on the two England games coming up now and the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros. To be thinking about speculation or rumours would be damaging in terms of my own performance.

“I’m fully focused on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer, and then we’ll see where we go from there.”
