Scudetto winners Inter sign new kit sponsorship deal

Fresh off winning their first Scudetto since 2010, Inter has already been undergoing a lot of changes. The first, of course, is the man on the tactician’s bench. Despite a successful season, Antonio Conte has decided to leave the club after he and the club’s executive board failed to come to an agreement on several metrics for the upcoming campaign. As such, former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi has been appointed in his stead and will be expected to ensure that the Nerazzurri are competitive on both the domestic and international stages during the 2021/2022 term – and beyond.

Meanwhile, fans will also see that Inter’s famous Nerazzurri kit looks a bit different starting this season. After a partnership lasting nearly three decades, Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli will no longer be Inter’s main kit sponsor. As per SportsPro, the final contract between the two sides was worth an estimated $12.5 million (€10.5 million) per annum. However, as per the same report, the company will remain on board as Inter’s official tire partner until the conclusion of the 2023/24 term.

Inter’s owner Suning has been hit hard for funds lately, and so were looking for a much more lucrative sponsorship arrangement to the tune of approximately $35.6 million (€30 million) per year. And it appears they’ve found someone who will be willing to meet that, with Socios.com, a blockchain-based fan engagement platform, looking set to become the new logo on the front of the team’s shirts.

If all goes according to plan, Inter will become the second team to have Socios.com’s logo on their shirts. The first team to do so is La Liga outfit Valencia, who signed a deal with Chiliz last month.
