Rice: Top four a ‘tough test’ amid Chelsea, Spurs resurgence

Declan Rice has admitted that it will be a “tough test” for West Ham to get into the Champions League amid Chelsea and Tottenham’s improved form.

The Hammers are enjoying a phenomenal season as they are mounting a surprise push for the top four. David Moyes’ side sit fifth after 27 games. They are currently two points being fourth-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.

Thomas Tuchel’s are in scintillating form at the minute. They are yet to lose from his eleven games in charge and they have won eight of these outings. This has seen them break out as the leading contenders for the top four.

Everton and Tottenham are hot on Chelsea and West Ham’s heels, though. They are both just a couple of points behind the Hammers.

Jose Mourinho’s results have picked up of late. They have won three games on the bounce in the Premier League. This has been helped by the form of Gareth Bale.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rice suggested that it is hard to call who will finish in the top four:

“It’s hard to say we’re going to be Champions League, there’s so many games left.

“Chelsea have hit a fantastic bit of form and made a load of points. So have Spurs. It’s going to be a real tough test. It’s in our hands.

“We’ve got Man United and Arsenal next – we need to win the big games. Keep going, and taking every game as it comes.”
