Report: Inter and Chelsea agree terms for Lukaku’s return to Stamford Bridge

Weekends are not usually big when it comes to announcing shocking transfer moves, but we think that going back to one of your former teams for THAT much money qualifies as a big transfer.

According to reports in England and Italy, Chelsea and Inter have already agreed to make Romelu Lukaku’s return to the Blues a reality. The Belgian ace will return to the English Premier League after two years with Inter, where he scored 64 goals in 95 games and led the nerazzurri to their first title after a decade.

The English club will welcome Lukaku back after he puts pen to paper to a new deal that will guarantee the striker a bit over $12M per season, excluding add-ons and performance bonuses. The deal between Inter and Chelsea would see the Blues paying the Serie A champions a bit over $135M, and despite their initial proposals, no players would be included in the negotiation.

Lukaku had previously spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge with disappointing results. The Belgian ace was only able to play ten games for Chelsea in those two seasons, and needless to say, he failed to find the back of the net in any of them.

The Belgian footballer will give fans high hopes for success due to his recent role with Inter, although some may not be as forgiving after his spell at Manchester United, where he scored 42 goals in all comps during his two-year stint with the Red Devils. Lukaku is expected to take Chelsea’s No.9 role in detriment of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham, with the latter set to leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

The deal is expected to be made official in the next 48 hours.
