PSG make firm contract offer for Man Utd, Real target

Paris Saint-Germain have acted on their interest in Bayern Munich defender and Man Utd target David Alaba, according to reports.

The French side have been linked with Alaba for some time, alongside Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.

It now seems they’ve taken the first step in trying to sign the Austrian international.

According to German source Bild (via ESPN), PSG have offered a major deal to Alaba.

The defender has held talks with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a summer switch to Ligue 1.

Alaba has not yet responded to the offer, although the report states that Real is his preferred destination.

Man Utd may need to act fast if they want to sign one of Europe’s top defenders.

The transfer could give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a top-quality centre-back partner for Harry Maguire.

He is looking to replace either Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly as the Red Devils hunt for the Premier League title.

Real are firmly in the running for Alaba. They see him as a short-term replacement for Sergio Ramos, whose contract is set to expire in June.

Last week, Alaba confirmed his intention to leave the German giants on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

He told reporters: “I have made the decision to try something new after this season and to leave the club. It was a difficult decision. I have been here for 13 years. I made so many memories here.

“I have not decided what is next for me. I decided to seek a new challenge. That’s why it took time.

“It’s no secret my management is in touch with several clubs. I will focus on my task here and will remain in contact with my management.”

The announcement followed months of speculation about his future.

PSG have made the first move for Alaba, but Man Utd or Real could swoop in to foil their transfer plans.
