Graham Potter has revealed that Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey will miss the “rest of the season” with a hamstring injury.
The defender came through the ranks with Chelsea and he made his debut against Arsenal in December 2019. The Blues trailed when he came off the bench, but he was instrumental as Frank Lampard’s side came from behind to win.
That proved to be his only appearance for Chelsea as he joined Brighton on loan in January. He thoroughly impressed from his eight outings before the end of the season.

Lamptey joined Brighton permanently for just £2m ahead of the 2020/21 season. He continued to shine for Potter’s side during the first half of this campaign.
The 20-year-old has been unavailable since December due to a hamstring injury. Potter told reporters on Friday, as cited by BBC Sport, that Lamptey will not play again this season:
“Tariq Lamptey’s hamstring hasn’t responded as well as we’d like. We’re looking at surgery which means he will miss the rest of the season.
“Aaron Connolly has got a cracked rib and he will be back after the international break.”
Potter was also asked about Chris Wilder amid reports of him leaving Sheffield United on Friday:
“He was the first manager I came across on my return to the UK,” said the Seagulls boss.
“I don’t think he will be out of work for long.”
