Reported Liverpool transfer target Kylian Mbappe regularly “asks about England” when speaking to Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Mbappe has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool often mentioned in discussions over the Frenchman’s future.
Real Madrid also hold an interest in the forward, who Jamie Carragher is enamoured by.
Pochettino has stoked the fires somewhat by saying that Mbappe “asks about England” as well as Spain and Argentina when the pair chat.
“Kylian loves football, he loves to talk about football,” Pochettino told The Guardian.
“He asks about England – how is the game, the mentality and the culture there? – and also Spain and Argentina. He will watch, every day, games from England, France, Italy, Germany.
“He’s only 22 but very mature, confident in his talent and open. He can speak French, of course, but also perfect English and Spanish. I speak in English and Spanish with him – more English than Spanish.
“I said to him the other day: ‘I need to practise my French with you, to improve,’ and he said: ‘Sure, but it’s better for me to talk in English.’ He loves to practise different languages.

“Before the first leg in Barcelona, I told him that I’d won there one time with Espanyol and he said, very seriously: ‘OK, tomorrow will be the second time.’
“I said: ‘Are you sure?’ And he said: ‘Yes, don’t worry. We are going to win.’
“He was laughing after the game and he said to me on the pitch: ‘I told you, I told you, I told you.’”
Pochettino expressed his wish earlier this month that Mbappe would stay at PSG beyond the end of his current contract, which expires next summer.
“I am an optimist. I hope that the best players at the club, in this case Kylian, will stay here.
“When we talk about top clubs and top players like Kylian Mbappe who is at international level, there will always be rumours.
“The most important thing is that Kylian is quiet. He is quiet and focused on the team and helping them achieve their goals. Kylian is very mature despite his age.
“Both club and player are trying to come to an agreement that will see Kylian stay with us for a long time. It’s the desire of the club and we are working on everything.”
