Pep Guardiola says there’s a ‘big chance’ Man City won’t sign a successor to Sergio Aguero this year.
The Argentinian forward will leave at the end of the campaign after ten years at the Etihad.
Three world-class strikers are being touted as replacements in Guardiola’s side. They are Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku. All three would make the Manchester club an even greater attacking force.

However, Guardiola has cast doubt on the club’s ability to sign a new striker.
Speaking ahead of their test against Leicester City, the manager said: “There is a big chance, with the situation in the world, the economic problems in world football, we are not going to sign any striker for next season.
“We have enough players in the first team right now and we have interesting players in the academy.”
When asked about the decision not to renew Aguero’s contract, the Spaniard continued: “We know how important a player he is in the present and was in the past. These decisions are never easy.
“Maybe we could find a new player to replace Sergio in terms of numbers but it is almost impossible to replace him in terms of what he means to this club.”
Aguero has become a club legend with his 257 goals in 384 games. He became City’s all-time record goalscorer in 2017 by overtaking Eric Brook.
If the 32-year-old has an injury-free season run-in, then he could get break the 265 goal mark.
His greatest moment in a City shirt came in the final day of the 2011/12 season, when he scored a late winner against QPR to snatch the Premier League title away from rivals Man Utd.
One player who was rumoured to become Aguero’s successor at the Etihad is Kelechi Iheanacho.
He left in 2017 after failing to become a first team regular and is now in great form for Leicester.
Speaking about the player, Guardiola said: “Incredible. The quality was there. He was a young player here and I think with Gabriel (Jesus) we didn’t have enough space.
“He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship, and I’m glad to see him playing well.”
City play Leicester at 17:30 on Saturday.
