Owen only sees Man City-Tottenham ‘going one way’

Michael Owen believes Manchester City will be able to expose Tottenham’s defensive frailties on Saturday at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side are on a phenomenal run of late. They have won 15 straight games in all competitions.

This form has seen them go five points clear at the top of the Premier League. They also have a game in hand over teams around them.

Last time out in the league they beat Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield which compounded the Reds to their third successive defeat in the league.

Tottenham recently fell to three straight Premier League defeats themselves at the hands of Liverpool, Brighton and Chelsea. But they returned to winning ways last Sunday against West Brom.

Spurs now sit eighth in the league with 36 points from their 22 outings. They have a game in hand over most clubs above them, though. As it stands, if they win this game in hand they will move level on points with Chelsea in fifth.

Jose Mourinho’s side suffered another setback in midweek however as Everton beat them 5-4 in a dramatic FA Cup tie at Goodison Park.

Speaking to Bet Victor, Owen predicted that City will run out convincing winners against Spurs on Saturday:

“No doubt, Mourinho will try to pick City off on the counter. However, as we’ve seen many times this season, Tottenham have a tendency to switch off at the back.

“You just can’t afford to do that against City, and with the visitors in such tremendous form, I can only see this going one way.”
