156,000 Allied troops landed on the north coast of France on this day in 1944 in what is now known as D-Day. They fought to gain a stronghold of the area to slowly push the German forces back and slowly took back France.
Around 4,400 Allied troops died during the invasion. They lost their lives trying to give us our freedom. May their sacrifice never be forgotten.
