Sven-Goran Eriksson was announced as the new Manchester City manager on this day back in 2007.
The Swede took the reins after Stuart Pearce had been fired at the end of the 2006/07 season after a little more than two years in charge.
It was his first job in football management after leaving the England job and his appointment was a real sign of intent from chairman Thaksin Shinawatra, who wanted to bring the good times back to Manchester City.
Eriksson lasted one season at Manchester City manager before being fired by Shinawatra, much to the surprise of City fans everywhere.
This came after he guided the club to 9th position, their highest Premier League place.
His last game in charge was away to Middlesbrough, where his City side incredibly lost 8-1. It seems a little unfair to include a video of the defeat, but seeing as Manchester City are doing so well recently, I’m going to do it anyway!
