Manchester United fans were on cloud nine on this day back in 1995 as their side defeated Ipswich Town 9-0 at Old Trafford. It was the biggest Premier League win, a record that was equalled by Leicester City in October 2019 and again by United just last month. Both of these subsequent 9-0 victories were recorded against Southampton.
Andy Cole had a great match, scoring five times. He had signed from fellow Premier Leaguers Newcastle United just eight weeks earlier and his five-goal haul was another record broken that afternoon.
The other goals came from Mark Hughes (who scored twice), Roy Keane and Paul Ince.
Ipswich Town had a torrid afternoon in what was an awful season for the club. They finished rock bottom of the table and only won 27 points all season.
