Bradford Park Avenue played their last Football League match on this day in 1970.
The club had been in the Football League for sixty-two years before going bankrupt. They became the second club in eight years to drop out of the League after Accrington Stanley had left in early 1962.
The home match against Scunthorpe United turned out to be their last. It didn’t end well as United beat Park Avenue 5-0 at their Horton Park ground. 2,563 fans watched on, unaware of the significance of the game.
The club moved into non-league before eventually folding in 1974. A reincarnation of the club was formed in 1987.
