It was on this day in 2010 that a single goal from Jermaine Beckford gave Leeds United the giant-killing that their fans so desperately craved away to Manchester United.
It was the first time in nearly six years that the two clubs played against each other since Leeds’ relegation from the top flight in 2004. The Yorkshire side had since been relegated for a second time and were now plying their trade in League One (the third tier of English football).
Jermaine Beckford scored the only goal of the game after 19 minutes. He chased a long ball from Jonny Howson and managed to outrun Manchester United Wes Brown before flicking the ball past Tomasz Kuszczak in the United goal.
There was just enough on Beckford’s shot to see it roll over the line and it gave the underdogs the lead.
Despite an onslaught from the home side, Leeds held on for a famous victory.
