It was on this day in 1994 that Liverpool played their final game in front of their famous Kop terrace.
Norwich City were the visitors on a glorious sunny day that started with a parade of former Liverpool players coming on to the pitch to wave to the fans. Gerry Marsden then sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, a song that his band Gerry and the Pacemakers had released in the mid 1960s and was adopted by Liverpool as their club anthem.
After the pre-match entertainment, it was time for the match to begin. Norwich City won the match 1-0 thanks to a great goal from Jeremy Goss. The Norwich midfielder’s goal had already scored two other great goals against Bayern Munich and Leeds United earlier in the season.
