AC Milan won their first European Cup on this day back in 1963. They beat Portuguese side Benfica in the Final at Wembley Stadium, coming from a goal down to win 2-1.
AC Milan beat Union Luxembourg, Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Dundee to get to the Final and scored an amazing 31 times in those 8 games.
Benfica’s Eusebio raced through to open the scoring in the Final after 18 minutes.
AC Milan came back though in the second half, with Jose Altafini scoring twice to secure the win for the Italian side.
AC Milan are the second most successful side in European Cup history, lifting the famous trophy seven times. Only Real Madrid have it won more with 14.
Milan have also won the European Cup in 1969, 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003 and 2007.
