Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew got involved in a bit of argy-bargy on the touchline against Hull City on this day in 2014, leaving him in hot water with both his club and the FA.
Pardew clashed with Hull midfielder David Meyler on the touchline as Meyler ran past him to fetch the ball for a throw-in, bumping into the Newcastle boss on the way past. The pair exchanged words before Pardew promptly headbutted Meyler! It was a disgraceful act from the Newcastle boss and he was rightly punished for his actions.
The Football Association banned Pardew from the touchline for seven matches and fined him £60,000. The Newcastle United board also took a dim view of the incident and slapped him with a fine of £100,000. All rather costly for a moment of madness!
