The last months or so have been absolutely awful for all those connected to Bury Football Club.
They were expelled from the Football League at the end of August last year, becoming the first club since Maidstone United back in 1992 to lose their place in the League due to financial problems.
Things were slightly better for the club on this day back in 1903, as they won the FA Cup for the second time in four years.
‘The Shakers’ beat Derby County 6-0 in front of 63,102 fans at the old Crystal Palace Stadium. They also went through the entire cup run without conceding a single goal. Bury’s goals were scored by George Ross, Charles Sagar, William Wood, John Plant and Joe Leeming scored twice.
The score remained the highest win in an FA Cup Final for 96 years until Pep Guardiola as Manchester City beat Watford by the same scoreline in last season’s Final.
