England beat Paraguay 4-0 on this day back in 2002 in a friendly ahead of the World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
It was the second time that the two countries had played against each other. The first was in 1986 at the World Cup in Mexico and England won 3-0.
Michael Owen, Danny Murphy, Darius Vassell all scored and Celso Ayala put through his own net as England won convincingly. The match was played at Anfield in front of 42,713 fans.
The two countries played each other four years later in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. England won that match as well, but only by a single goal.
