Jose Mourinho also suggested that his side had enough chances against West Brom to “kill the game” by half time.
Tottenham looked much better with Harry Kane back in the team as they started the game well. But the forward spurned a couple of good chances in the first half that you would usually expect him to take.
West Brom defended well to stay in the game and they could have gone ahead against the run of play. Just before half time, Mbaye Diagne forced Hugo Lloris into a good save to keep it 0-0.

But any Spurs nerves were eased early into the second half. Kane did get his goal in the 54th-minute via a clinical finish after being let in by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Their lead was doubled just four minutes later. Mourinho’s side struck on the counter as Lucas Moura sprinted up the pitch before he laid it off to Heung-Min Son. Sam Johnstone got a hand on Son’s effort but he could not keep it out.
The Baggies had two goals ruled out for offside before the end but it proved to be a comfortable afternoon for Spurs.
They really needed this win as they headed into this one on the back of three straight league defeats. This victory moves them up to seventh in the table.
Speaking post-match with BT Sport, as cited by BBC Sport, Mourinho said Tottenham showed how “together” they are as a team against the Baggies:
“I loved the compromise of the players, the effort, the determination, the clear wish to show everyone how together they are and how much they were suffering with the bad results and how much they wanted the victory.
“That was the fundamental thing. In the first half, we were dominant and could have killed the game.
“At half-time we had confidence, we were positive, I only spoke to them for one minute. We were going in the right direction.
“Harry Kane is a special player in the history of the club. He will beat every possible record. We had very good individual performances today.
“At the end of the season you have the truth, we will be where we belong, where we deserve to be.”
