Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has insisted that people are “quick to forget” how well they have done this season.
The Scotsman has played 123 times for his boyhood club since making his debut during the 2016/17 campaign.
McTominay was a bit-part player for them between 2017 and 2019. But over the last couple of years, his role has been growing at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has already played 39 times for United this season. This is the most he has played for them in a single term so far.
The 2020/21 campaign has been a strong one for the Red Devils overall. At the start of the year, they looked to be mounting a serious challenge for the Premier League title.
Their form has dipped in recent weeks however as they are 14 points adrift of Man City with a game in hand.
Their city rivals knocked them out of the Carabao Cup earlier this season. They also suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals before the international break.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s only remaining hope of a trophy this year lies with the Europa League. United will face Spanish side Granada in the last eight of the competition. They are on course to face Arsenal in the final should both advance.
McTominay has told ESPN that he is eager to progress his “game to another level” for both Man United and Scotland:
“We’ve got a good group of players with top, top quality. People are quite quick to forget how well we’ve done at times. It’s the sloppy results that have let us down. This team is evolving. It’s not a time to panic.
“My parents raised me to be humble and hard working. I’m not perfect every game and I know that.
“I’ve got a lot to improve on but there’s also things I do well so I’m just trying to improve and kick start my game to another level. I just want to do my best. It’s about consistency and playing well over the course of a season.”
