McCoist: Kane set to make the ‘biggest decision’ of his career

Ally McCoist has suggested that Harry Kane’s ideal situation is to stay at Tottenham to win trophies, but he concedes that may not happen.

Over the years, Kane has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in world football. He broke into Tottenham’s first team in 2013/14 and he became their first choice the season after.

The Englishman has now scored 20-plus goals a season in seven straight campaigns for his boyhood club.

The 2020/21 term has been an extraordinary one so far for the forward. He has 27 goals and 16 assists from 40 appearances for Spurs in all competitions.

Kane has been linked with a move away from Spurs in recent months. The Athletic’s David Ornstein recent told Sky Sports that the striker would like to leave the Londoners.

Ornstein added that given his status at the club, he cannot reveal this publicly but he would prefer to leave so he can win trophies.

It has also been reported that Spurs will demand at least £120m if they are going to sell Kane. The 27-year-old has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Man City and PSG.

Roy Keane and Ashley Cole have recently urged Kane to leave Spurs this summer so he can challenge for the biggest trophies in world football.

McCoist has told talkSPORT that he expects Kane to move on this summer:

“I think Harry Kane’s ideal situation would be winning trophies with Spurs, competing in the league, and playing in the Champions League and he could beat Jimmy Greaves’ record and he could go on and beat Wayne Rooney’s record.

“That, for me, is the ideal situation that Harry Kane would want. Sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen that way.

“I think this summer will be his biggest decision he’ll probably have to make ever in terms of his career.

“In terms of the timing of it. He either moves now or he doesn’t. I think, and if you’re asking me what I think he’ll do, I actually think he might move.”
