Manchester United reportedly name asking price for Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba’s days at Manchester United may be numbered, and if the player refuses to sign a contract extension in the coming weeks, then he could set sail to a new club before the end of the current transfer window.

According to reports by L’Equipe and As, Pogba is willing to leave the Red Devils to pursue new challenges in either France or Spain, given the interest shown by PSG and Real Madrid in his services. Nevertheless, the French side would have a slight edge over Los Blancos since they have the money to hire the player rather than proposing a cash-plus-player deal such as the one Real Madrid could offer.

With that in mind, Manchester United have reportedly set an asking price of €60M for the footballer, given that he will enter the final year of his contract. Even so, the club’s main goal is to strike a contract extension with the player, but they will try to do so once Pogba returns from his vacation period, otherwise he could choose his next destination in January.

Regarding the teams involved in a possible deal, PSG and Real Madrid have their fair share of hurdles to overcome. First off, the French side must part ways with some of their players before going all in for Pogba. Les Parisiens have signed four players during the current offseason (Danilo Pereira, Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Achraf Hakimi), and before they can hire Pogba, they must let some of their footballers leave. Once that hurdle is over, then PSG will be able to come up with a bid for the player, who has stated he would like to play at Parc Des Princes before his career comes to an end.

As for Real Madrid, the Spanish side has made it abundantly clear that Kylian Mbappé is their main transfer target for this summer -or the next-, but a deal for Pogba would not be snubbed if the right conditions are named. Currently, Manchester United have shown interest in hiring Raphael Varane, who is also entering the final year of his contract, and a player swap with some cash added could be the way to see Pogba at the Bernabeu. Nevertheless, this deal depends on Raphael Varane’s intention to leave the club, and if he chooses to see the end of his deal at La Casa Blanca, then the chances to see his compatriot arriving would fade away.
