Man Utd ‘not good enough’ to land Haaland, claims O’hara

Jamie O’Hara thinks Man Utd are ‘not good enough’ to sign Dortmund scoring sensation Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian international is wanted by all of Europe’s top clubs due to his incredible form in recent seasons.

Since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, he’s scored 49 goals in just 51 games.

OPINION: Chelsea need more than Mount to win the Champions League

Man Utd have been heavily linked with a major bid for Haaland.

The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, recently travelled to Old Trafford to discuss a potential transfer.

However, former Premier League midfielder O’Hara thinks Haaland will aim to sign for a better club.

Speaking on talkSPORT (via Daily Mail), he said: “They can’t get Haaland – because they’re not good enough. Why is he going go to Man Utd?

“It’s alright needing him, but you’ve got Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City. They need him.

“Man Utd paid £100million for [Paul] Pogba and he’s gone there thinking they’re going to go to the next level. It hasn’t worked.

“Haaland’s not going to go to Man Utd and be thinking ‘we might win something, we might not’, he’s going somewhere where he might win everything.”

Since Pogba re-joined the Red Devils in August 2016, they’ve won the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

However, they’ve failed to bring the biggest trophies back to Old Trafford, including the Premier League and Champions League.

Right now, rivals Man City seem far more suited to Haaland.

They’re storming their way to this season’s Premier League title and could even achieve an unprecedented quadruple.

Sergio Aguero is leaving in June at the end of his contract, leaving a major whole for Haaland to fill. It’s thought that the 20-year-old would relish the opportunity and take them to the next level.

The striker already has links with Man City, too. His father Alf-Inge played 41 times for the club between 2000 and 2003.

Haaland made the trip to the Etihad on Tuesday night with Dortmund.

The German side were beaten after goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, with the England star scoring a late winner.

Haaland failed to continue his scoring run in the Champions League but will be hoping to make amends in the return leg.

They host Man City on Wednesday April 14 at 20:00.
