Man Utd, Chelsea make offers to keep Aguero in the Prem

Man Utd and Chelsea are among the clubs to have made offers for Man City striker Sergio Aguero as approaches the end of his time at the Etihad Stadium, according to reports.

Aguero announced the end of his time at City on Monday when he posted a message on social media confirming his departure and thanking fans.

The Argentina international is currently in his tenth campaign at the Premier League club with Pep Guardiola’s side still working towards a possible league, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League quadruple.

Aguero has scored an astonishing 257 goals in 384 appearances for City since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011, winning four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and five League Cups.

Now Aguero has a decision to make over who he will join next with strong speculation he could join compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

And now Foot Mercato claims that Paris Saint-Germain is one of five clubs who have already outlined their proposal to Aguero, with the French side making ‘a first offer to the player’.

It is understood that the 32-year-old has ‘not yet made his choice’ but that the ‘courtiers are sharpening their offers’.

The French outlet understandly concentrates on the interest from PSG with the Parisiens taking a ‘real step forward’ in their pursuit of the free agent.

It is said that former Argentina international and current PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino ‘greatly appreciates’ Aguero and, with the futures of Kylian Mbappe, Moise Kean and Mauro Icardi still unresolved, a deal for Aguero is ‘therefore not necessarily an unnecessary luxury’.

Foot Mercato add that Aguero ‘has already received at least 5 [offers], including Inter Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United, in addition to that of PSG.’

Meanwhile, Kevin Parker, general secretary of City’s supporters club, says the striker will be ‘tied to the history of the club forever’.

“That goal he scored in 2012, at 93.20 (on the clock), created a bond that was always going to be difficult for someone to break,” Parker told the PA news agency.

“That goal has tied him to the history of the club forever. That is something no City fan will ever forget.

“We knew this day would come, there was an inevitability about it, but the way it came out, just out of the blue, was still a big shock. My sons were devastated. I just didn’t want to hear it.”
