Harry Maguire also reserved praise for Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka after their recent “excellent” form for Manchester United.
Both full-backs have performed well for Man United this season. Shaw, in particular, has been one of their best players this term.
They had started the season really strongly, but a dip in form has seen them drift away from Manchester City.

The Red Devils have only won one of their last four Premier League games, which was their resounding 9-0 win over Southampton.
Other than that they drew 0-0 with Arsenal and they fell to a surprising 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United. Last time out they conceded in the final few seconds of the game against Everton to draw 3-3 at Old Trafford.
Speaking via the club’s official website, Maguire admitted that he expects a lot from his full-backs for Man United:
“Obviously Luke and Aaron have been excellent of late. They’ve really picked up their attacking game and started to fly forward and create chances which is really important for the team.
“We know how big influence full-backs in the modern day have on the attacking side of the game, as well as the defensive side.
“They don’t get beaten one-v-one which is really important, they’re stopping crosses and they’ve been defending the back post really well.
“As a back four, we’re working hard together. I have big demands on my full-backs, I expect them to fly forward but I also expect them to fly back as well.”
