Liverpool submit ‘deal sheet’ with Minamino to join Saints

A deal sheet has been submitted as Southampton look set to sign Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino on loan until the end of the season, according to reports.

Minamino joined Liverpool in January 2020 from RB Salzburg after the Reds activated his £7.25m release clause.

Given the impressive form of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Minamino has found it difficult to earn himself a sustained run in Liverpool’s first team.

Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi both started ahead of him in the Reds’ 3-1 win over West Ham at the weekend and the Japan international has only started two Premier League matches this campaign.

Rumours emerged only hours before the window closed that Southampton had made an ’11th-hour’ offer for the Japan international with ‘excitement’ at the possibility of bringing Minamino to St Mary’s.

And The Athletic journalist James Pearce reports that a deal sheet has been submitted for Minamino and the forward is ‘all set to join Southampton on loan for the rest of the season’.

Meanwhile, Liverpool confirmed the signings of Ben Davies from Preston and Ozan Kabak from Schalke on deadline day, while Jurgen Klopp also revealed Joel Matip will miss the rest of the season with ankle ligament damage.
