Liverpool eye Leeds winger as potential Salah replacement

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Leeds United winger Raphinha, should they lose Mo Salah to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Salah is wanted by the Spanish giants after becoming an integral player at Anfield.

The Egyptian is the Premier League’s top goalscorer this season with 15 goals, three ahead of second-placed Harry Kane.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are tracking the progress of Raphinha ahead of a potential move.

The 24-year-old has been a success story at Elland Road this season after joining from Rennes in October.

He’s scored four goals and registered four assists in 16 league appearances this term.

Raphinha has adapted well to life in the Premier League. He now seems to be one of the first names on the team sheet for boss Marcelo Bielsa.

The player can operate as a winger on either side, making him an attractive option for potential suitors.

The report states that Liverpool scouts are assessing targets to bolster their attack.

Raphinha is top of that list, after reportedly ‘blowing away’ Reds officials.

It’s thought that the Brazilian would link up well with forward Roberto Firmino.

He could be brought in to replace Salah at Anfield.

In December, Salah was asked about the links with Real and Barca. He said: “I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. Who knows what is going to happen in the future? But right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.

“It’s a tough question, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club.”

Liverpool could face competition from other top clubs for Raphinha’s signature.

His impressive season will have gained him admirers across Europe.

Of course, a potential deal is dependent on whether Salah remains at Anfield past this summer.
