Liverpool pilled the pressure on Real Madrid but they were unable to produce another Champions League fightback at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had Madrid on the back foot for much of the first half but the were unable to convert this pressure into goals. Karim Benzema struck the post for the visitors before the break.
Diogo Jota and Thiago were brought on as Liverpool continued to put Zinedine Zidane’s side under pressure. They were still unable to find a goal though as Madrid secured a 3-1 aggregate victory. They will face Chelsea in the semi-finals.
