Leicester to rival PL clubs for £10m-rated Celtic defender

Leicester City are to join the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace in chasing Celtic defender Jack Hendry, according to reports.

The defender spent a few years as an academy player with Celtic, but he eventually broke through with Partick Thistle.

After a spell with Wigan, Hendry joined Dundee on a two-year deal in 2017. It was there where he first became a regular at senior level. An impressive few months with Dundee tempted Celtic to move for him in January 2018.

The 25-year-old has only managed to play 27 times for the Scottish giants across three seasons. This led to him joining Belgian side Oostende on loan at the start of this season.

Hendry has thoroughly impressed with his new club this campaign. He has made 22 appearances in the Belgian First Division so far. Oostende currently sit fourth in the table.

90min have reported that the Belgian outfit have an option to buy the defender this summer. It is believed that the fee for this deal would be just less than £2m.

The report adds that with several Premier League clubs interested in him, Oostende will sign him permanently before they look to sell him on. They would ask for around £10m for the defender.

Aston Villa and Wolves were among those chasing him in January. But it is now believed that Leicester, West Ham and Crystal Palace are also interested.
