Jurgen Klopp has hailed his Liverpool players for defending the “undefendable” Adama Traore in the Reds’ 1-0 victory over Wolves on Monday night.
Traore has been linked with a move to the Reds for over a year following his amazing displays last season.
The Spain international contributed four goals and nine assists as Wolves finished seventh in a fantastic campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, in 28 Premier League appearances this term he has failed to return a single goal or assist and was well marshalled by Nathaniel Phillips and Ozan Kabak on Monday night.
Speaking of Phillips and Kabak’s performance against Wolves, Klopp said: “They played a second game in a row together and did really well.
“The Leipzig [Champions League] game was difficult but tonight was difficult for completely different reasons. The speed of Traore is actually undefendable in moments.
“The first situation…I didn’t like the start of our game, to be honest, it was not active enough, but that pass in behind, it was clear offside, because the rules they let it run and that had an impact on our last line for a few minutes. We had to get settled again, so we did.
“From that moment on they played really, really well. I liked it a lot ‘It was a massive task from a concentration point of view, they did really well and I’m really happy.”
It was not the first time Klopp has gone out of his way to praise Traore, in January 2020, he said: “He is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable. What a player – it’s not only him but he’s so good.”
Those comments led to months of rumours that Liverpool would make a bid for Traore last summer with reports claiming at the time that Klopp ‘wants’ the Wolves star.
On his side’s general performance against Wolves, Klopp added: “Diogo has had an impact since he has been back and it makes it more special he was able to score. It was a perfect moment to score, a second before the half-time whistle.
“The rest of the game was a lot of defending but I’m completely fine with that. It’s what I wanted to see, that we understand the situation. It’s not about being Liverpool on a gala night.
“I’m really happy about the performance. I couldn’t be more happier with the dirty three points.
“We had very good moments where we should have done better. Defensively the whole game was really good, but I didn’t like the start, we weren’t active enough.”
