Klopp: Injuries made building new Liverpool house ‘a bit shaky’

Jurgen Klopp says injuries to key Liverpool players “changed everything” this season but he will “will work on it”.

The Reds’ 3-1 loss to Leicester City over the weekend meant it is now three Premier League defeats in a row and only three wins in their last 12 matches in all competitions.

Liverpool are now fourth in the Premier League table with most teams below them having at least one game in hand on the Merseysiders.

“All the weeks and months you can see easily it is a mix of different things that happened. Now is not the time to explain,” Klopp said.

“Injuries have played part in it, you can’t ignore them, it changed everything.

“It’s like building a house, if the foundations are not right things are a bit shaky.

“We cannot change things but we will work on it.”

Meanwhile, Klopp confirmed that Naby Keita is back in training but would not travel to Hungary to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League with the rest of the Liverpool squad.

“Naby is no longer injured but he’s not fit yet,” Klopp said.

“He was in training yesterday but it’s not sufficient yet. We will be away for two days and he will be in training; it’s better than flying with us. Of course Naby would have liked to be there when it’s against [former club] Leipzig.

“In terms of injuries, we all have to go through these difficulties and once that’s behind you, we’ll have another absolutely great player.”
