Hero – Nathan Pond
Pond is Fleetwood Town’s record appearance holder, having played in 460 appearances over fifteen years between 2003 and 2018.
He joined ‘The Cod Army’ from neighbouring Lancaster City in 2003. He has spent time on loan at Kendal Town and then Grimsby Town during his time at Fleetwood.
In the space of ten years, Pond was part of six promotion-winning sides as the club began to reap the rewards of the significant investment from club chairman Andy Pilley.
Pond has four international caps for Montserrat, the small island in the Caribbean. Montserrat play in the CONCACAF making his debut in October last year. He has also scored one international goal, scoring the winner against St. Lucia.
Nathan Pond plays as a defender or defensive midfielder and now plays at League Two side Salford City, having joined the club in May 2018.
Villains – Blackpool
There are quite a few sides that Fleetwood Town fans can call their local rivals. The likes of Morecambe, Southport and Barrow were local rivals when the four were all in non-league. Accrington Stanley, Chorley and Lancaster City here also local non-league rivals during the non-league days. There is one club though that Fleetwood Town fans call their main rivals and that is Blackpool.
Fleetwood have an atrocious record against The Tangerines in competitive matches, winning only one of the nine matches. Blackpool have notched up five wins and the other three games were goalless draws.
